Well, I received a Nook for Christmas, and I've been loving it so far. Upon getting it though, I've been looking into where to pick up a ton of e-books, and additionally, ones which I want to read.
I realized today that Black Library produces ebooks for some of their books. That's really exciting. Does anyone have any experience using the ones they produce? How good are they, quality-wise? Just wanted to get some opinions before I pick up any books.

I bought the Prospero Burns ebook. It loooks amazing on the Nook. Just make sure you download the version that works on the Nook (Epub).
ReplyDeleteWarhammer 40K is a cult. To begin with Dan Abnett's book is a good idea, but begin with Horus rising instead of Prospero burns. Or, if you want to test, try Hammer&Bolter issues and read the Phalanx series, that's a great one!
ReplyDeleteI ended up buying Prospero Burns as a normal book already. I love the Horus Heresy series, I couldn't wait to pick it up, haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear the quality is good though- that was a concern of mine, but if they do a good job, that sounds like a great reason for me to pick them up.
I've not heard of the Phalanx series, I don't believe- I'll certainly check them out. I was definitely thinking about the Hammer & Bolter stuff though, since it's not available elsewhere. I'll have to pick up some things tonight, see how I like them.

'Phalanx' is the latest tale in Ben Counter's 'Soul Drinkers' series. It is being serialised in the monthly eMag "Hammer & Bolter".
ReplyDeleteAh, that sounds pretty good. Apparently Black Library put up the first issue of Hammer & Bolter up for free some time ago, and I was emailed it (Thanks Tony!), so I'll give that a start. So far, the quality is very good, and it certainly has me excited to get more of the things they have available.
